LaKisha Greenwade is a global innovation leader, ecosystem architect, and the Founder & CEO of Wearable Tech Ventures — a pioneering organization dedicated to advancing the future of wearable technology through medical, health, fashion and sports innovation.
With a mission to unlock opportunity for nontraditional founders, she is building the world’s most inclusive pipeline of wearable tech entrepreneurs, engineers, and investors. Under her leadership, the organization has expanded to representation across four continents and is actively supporting the launch of 100 wearable startups by 2030.

LaKisha’s work sits at the intersection of emerging technology, human-centered design, and economic transformation. She advises U.S. government agencies, academic institutions, and Fortune 500 companies on artificial intelligence, product development, and ethical innovation. Her influence spans industries — from digital health and rehabilitation to performance-based sports tech — and she has become a sought-after global speaker on applied AI and the future of work.
In 2022 and 2024, she led the creation of the world’s largest wearables hackathons, bringing together youth, engineers, designers, clinicians, and corporate partners to solve real-world challenges. Earlier in her career, she self funded Maryland’s inaugural Wearable Tech Expo and curated a FashTech showcase in 2016, positioning the region as an early innovation hub for wearable product development.

In 2025, LaKisha was honored by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History as an innovator designing the future. That same year, she served as host and speaker for the AI Summit in New York City, where she led discussions on ethical AI adoption, emerging business models, and the role of AI in improving quality of life and global health outcomes.

In 2026, LaKisha expands her commitment to early STEM access with the launch of Wearable Tech x AI STEM Kits, a hands-on learning platform that introduces students to applied AI, electrical engineering, and entrepreneurship. Developed to reach underserved communities, the kits bring emerging tech education directly into schools and youth programs — accelerating STEM curiosity and building the next generation of innovators.

LaKisha is a board member with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), advising on innovation strategy and the integration of equitable access pathways for STEM. She is also Senior Coach at Lucki Fit, where she trains startup leaders on intentional AI adoption, commercialization, fundraising readiness, and ecosystem influence.

Her work has earned numerous awards including Innovator of the Year, Maryland Leading Women, the NIH Director’s Award, Start Up Mentor of the Year at the Dingman Center, Black Innovation Alliance’s National Ecosystem Builder Award, 2x National Women in STEM Honoree at KID Museum, NSF I-Corps National Mentor and Regional Instructor, and multiple 40 Under 40 recognitions. She is also a 3x author, podcast host (Wearable Takeover), and multi-year speaker at SXSW.

LaKisha holds degrees from The Ohio State University (B.S.), University of Maryland (MBA), Johns Hopkins University, and MIT (Design Thinking).
